San Juan Island Ride

Riders are up at the crack of dawn to catch the ferry
to the San Juan Islands. Up but not all awake yet.

Coming into Friday Harbor though gets even the sleepy ones
wide awake and on their bicycles, ready for a fun day of cycling.

First stop is Roche Harbor, a nice location
for early morning snacks and "coffee".

After getting a wake up 'Cup of Joe' everyone is off and running
for some fun and excitement on San Juan Island.

The island is a great place for cycling because of plenty of
scenic vistas of Puget Sound and low traffic rolling country roads.

A favorite stop for all is Lime Kiln Point State Park
which is by far the best whale watching point on the island.

After checking out the whales everyone heads south to Cattle Point
to San Juan Island National Historic Park.

Its fun to see whales swimming and having fun but it is
even more fun to join them so members do just that.

After getting everyone out of the water, a quick accounting is done
to make sure no one is left behind and then its back to cycling.

As all coming streaming into Friday Harbor they make a quick
run for the local pub for raw oysters and ale.

Another fun day of cycling is at and end and all board the ferry
for home and thoughts of their next adventure to come.
