March 6th, Saturday, Coulon Park - South Lake Washington Loop
Ride Start: Gene Coulon Park, Renton, WA

Starting from Gene Coulon Park will ride the traditional
South Lake Washington Loop.

March 7th, Sunday, Mercer Island Bellevue Loop
Ride Start: Community Center, Mercer Island, WA
- Map/Directions.
Meet: 9:30am for 10am start.
Levels: Social and Intermediate.
Ride Distance: 30/35 Miles.
Ride Terrain: Mixed Interurban.

Ride Details:
Starting from the Mercer Island Community Center, members will
have two options, either the Bellevue Scenic or Bellevue Shoreline Loop. Each loop follows very
closely to the same route, except that the Bellevue Shoreline Loop takes in the steep hill climbs
into Medina and goes clockwise around Bellevue. The Scenic Loop takes an easier route following the
east side of the Mercer Slough and goes counterclockwise.
Both routes are on lightly traveled roads or good bike lanes and have ample scenery. Both routes
have limited access to cafes or stores along the route. Thus it is encouraged that members bring
snacks with them for mid ride breaks as well as full water bottles.
Final route selection will be made by members on ride day so group preferences and weather can be
used in decision.

Evening Bicycle Maintenance Classes
Get the basics from an REI Expert!

Event Details:
During the month of March, REI will have free bicycle maintenance classes at their
Flag Ship Store in Downtown Seattle. This is a good way to get started knowing how to care

March 14th, Sunday, Carnation - Duvall
Ride Start: McDonald Park, Carnation, WA
- Map/Directions.
Meet: 9:30am for 10am start.
Levels: Social and Intermediate.
Ride Distance: 26/32/40 miles.
Ride Terrain: Rolling Country with some climbs.

Ride Details:
This week's ride is on very scenic rural roads along the Snoqualmie and Tolt Rivers.
There are several options for riders to select from. The basic route is a 26 mile
Carnation to Duvall loop which can be enhanced with an out and back ride along the Tolt River
(8.5 mi) and a loop around Joy Lake (6 mi). Thus, you can ride as much or as little as you want.
Along with this we will have a 20 mile trail ride option from Carnation to Duvall and back
on the the scenic Snoqualmie Valley Regional Trail. The trail is hard packed dirt recommended
for cross or mountain bikes but can easily be done with a regular road bike as well.
The major mid way lunch stop for all groups will be in Duvall. Riders can either pack a lunch,
purchase lunch at a local establishment in Duvall or purchase something to carry with you from
the Carnation QFC near the start point.

March 21st, Sunday, Matzke Gallery & Sculpture Park
Ride Start: Coastal Bank, Camano Island, WA
- Map/Directions.
Meet: 9:30am for 10am start.
Levels: Social/Intermediate.
Ride Distance: ~30/45 Mile Options.
Ride Terrain: Country Roads with Climbs.

A special show at the Matzke Art Gallery and Sculpture Park with 45 outdoor
sculptures. Lunch at Elger Bay Cafe/Grocery Store after visiting the park
and riding for 26 miles.
Shorter option is available for riders only wanting to go to the gallery and back (~30 miles).
Bring energy food/snack if needed.
Ride start is at the Coastal Community Bank parking lot which is just west
of the Camano Island Park n Ride.

April 4th, Sunday, Mercer Island - May Valley - Maple Valley
Ride Start: Community Center, Mercer Island, WA

Meet: 9:30am for 10am start.

Ride Distance: 44 miles.
Ride Terrain: Rolling Country with Climbs.

Ride Details:
This is one of our newer routes which we did in January and are starting from Mercer Island
to give members a few more training miles.
The route goes south from Mercer Island along the Lake Washington Bike Trail.
At trail end, the route turns east over I-405 heading straight uphill and through
the Maple Valley. Mid route break will be Squak Mountain Park
so bring snacks with you since you will be in the wilderness. From here the route swings around
and goes south downhill to the Cedar River Trail and back to
Gene Coulon Park. From the park, riders go north back to the Lake Washington Bike Trail to the start.
For shorter route (30 miles) start at Gene Coulon Park and connect to group at mile post #3 on map as
route turns east over I-405. See map/cue sheet.

June 11-14, Friday - Monday, Vancouver Canada Outing Weekend
Looking for an inexpensive cycling tour for these recessionary times? We have you in mind. You
can cycle on a budget and still have lots of fun in the beautiful city of Vancouver B.C and
outlying areas, on June 11-14 weekend. Come for 1, 2, or 3 nights and up to 4 days of cycling you
decide how long. Join up with our cycling friends, the Vancouver Bicycle Club, on some of
the fun and scenic routes around the city.
This delightful tour will capture the hearts of cyclists who want a moderate tour of less than 50
miles per day and climbs of 1000 - 1300 ft. Optional routes with steeper climbs are available for
those who want greater challenges. Carpool up to Vancouver B.C. and stay at the University of
British Columbia’s Gage Towers for “nice” budget accommodations (see below). Early
reservations are recommended as this is a popular place to stay for tourists and conventions.

The 22nd Annual Tour de Peaks sponsored by
Snoqualmie Valley Hospital is an all new event this year. This
year along with cycling there will be a Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast
for riders at the start along with a Rotary Beer Garden at the
Finish Line.
Rides meander through hill and dale in exquisitely beautiful Snoqualmie Valley. Featuring four

August 28th, Saturday, Bainbridge Island Summer Challenge

If you have ridden the Chilly Hilly, you will enjoy riding roughly the same course in the opposite
direction in our mild mid-August weather! Ride either 35 mile Summer Challenge or 13.5 mile
Family Challenge.
Ride at your own pace through urban, suburban & country roads. Stop anytime you feel like sightseeing!
You are on island time. You will ride along beautiful shorelines with their cool breezes and spectacular
views and on country roads through towering forests. Come for the ride; stay the weekend!

Catch the 7am or 7:30am ferry from Mukilteo to Clinton, start riding at 9am,
giving everyone time to get to the start and eat a nice stack of pancakes before leaving.
Registration is 7-9:30am at Greenbank Farm where all rides begin and end except the
Family 10 mile loop which begins and ends in the Historic
Waterfront Town of Coupeville.
